Point-Supported Glazing Technical Downloads

Complete technical documentation for Hanart point-supported glazing systems — spider fitting Revit families, glass connection details, structural calculations, and installation guidance for architects and contractors.

System Overview

Point-Supported Glazing System

Hanart point-supported glazing systems create transparent facade surfaces with minimal visual obstruction. Stainless steel spider fittings connect glass panels through drilled corners, enabling frameless designs for atriums, building entrances, and iconic landmark structures.

Maximum Transparency

Point-supported systems remove heavy mullion frames, using discrete stainless steel spiders that allow unobstructed views. Glass spans up to 2.5m x 4.5m per panel with minimal hardware visible.

Cable-Net Capability

For large curved or tensile structures, Hanart engineers cable-net support systems that combine point-supported glass with pre-stressed steel cables for spans exceeding 30 meters.

Structural Precision

Every spider fitting is precision-cast 316 stainless steel, engineered for 3-axis adjustability. Connection tolerances of ±2mm ensure glass panels fit perfectly on sites with building movement.

Technical Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the maximum glass panel size for point-supported glazing?

Hanart standard point-supported panels range up to 2.5m x 4.5m. Larger panels are possible with thicker glass (15mm–19mm) and project-specific structural verification. Glass must be fully tempered or heat-strengthened for point-supported applications, and holes must meet strict edge quality requirements per ASTM C1048.

Do you provide cable-net systems or only rigid point-supported systems?

Both. We engineer rigid systems with steel box girders and tensile systems with pre-stressed cables. Our cable-net systems support spans up to 30+ meters and are analyzed with non-linear FEM software to verify pretension stability, glass stress, and deflection under wind and snow loads.

Can your Revit families model the spiders accurately for coordination?

Yes. Our spider fitting families are parametric with accurate arm geometry, bolt circle patterns, and material properties. They support LOD 350 coordination including anchor embeds and substructure connections. Custom spider configurations can be modeled on request for your specific project.

Are all glass types compatible, including insulated and laminated units?

Yes — triple glazing, laminated, low-e coated, and spandrel glass can all be used in point-supported systems. For insulated glazing units (IGUs), we use bonded point-fixings or edge-clamp details rather than hole-fixings to preserve the unit seal integrity.

How long does installation take compared to mullion systems?

Point-supported systems typically install 20–30% faster than conventional stick-built mullion systems because the spider fittings are pre-assembled on the substructure. Each glass panel can be placed and secured by a small crew in 20–30 minutes with appropriate lifting equipment.
